My family loves to serve a ham with our turkey at Thanksgiving, and we love ham for Christmas day too. We always go for the spiral hams, but we like to kick them up a notch over the basic store-bought. They come with a glaze, but you can make better very easily, here’s how.
Ingredients
1 six to seven pound ham, fully cooked and spiral sliced
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup honey
2 tablespoons Dijob mustard
2 cloves minced garlic
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Preparation
Preheat your oven to 325F.
Put the ham in a heavy roasting pan or Dutch oven, with the cut side down. Cover it snugly with aluminum foil.
Roast the ham for 12-14 minutes per pound. At the end of that time, check with your meat thermometer. It should be 145F or warmer. Keep cooking if its not.
While the ham is cooking, combine the glaze ingredients and mix well.
Once the ham is warmed, remove from the oven and remove the foil. Turn your oven up to 400F.
Spoon and spread the glaze on the ham. The back of a spoon works good to spread the glaze around.
Return it to oven and let it roast another 10-20 minutes, until it is glazed.
You’re going to love how this glaze tastes!
